14 is an articulated, cast glass sphere with a frosted cylindrical void that houses either a low-voltage xenon or LED lamp. Individual pendants are visually subtle, but gain an atmospheric quality when multiplied and clustered in groups. 14.1m allows for a variety of compositional possibilities, ranging from ambient to punctuated dense clusters in specific high profile locations.
14.1m uses strain relief connections, which allow the pendant lengths to be adjusted on site. Round, brushed-nickel canopies come standard with 10' feet of coaxial cable. Additional cable lengths are available in increments of 10' feet, up to a maximum of 100' feet in special applications.
Bocci Creative Director Omer Arbel explores the intrinsic mechanical, physical, and chemical qualities of materials as fundamental departure points for making work. His interdisciplinary practice spans multiple scales and cultural-economic contexts. Omer Arbel's work has been exhibited in various museums around the world.
In 2005, Bocci was founded in a red barn surrounded by hay fields, on the periphery of Vancouver, Canada. The company launched with one product, 14, which became an instant classic and remains a design staple and bestseller. Today, Bocci has a growing portfolio of contemporary design ranging from light installations through to furniture and electrical sockets. All Bocci designs are developed, engineered, and fabricated in-house through an infrastructure calibrated to provide full control over technique, quality, and scale.
Bocci recommends mounting transformers remotely in a close, accessible and hidden location for ease of long term maintenance. Installation to be done by certified electrician to ensure code compliance. Shallow & Deep canopies attach directly to a standard junction box. Flush Mini canopy requires transformers to be remote mounted and a drywaller to provide a finished look. The flush mini canopy is suitable for all common ceiling substrates if backed with plywood. This new canopy pairs with the flush mount anchor for a consistent finish for both random and sculptural cable installs. The flush mini canopy consists of two parts - the anchor and the finish cap. We recommend that the anchor be installed into 16 mm marine-grade plywood, ensuring a strong connection point for the canopy. The finish cap is first threaded onto the coaxial cable - the length of which is set by our new strain relief clip (capable of holding pendants up to 15 lbs/6.8kgs). The coaxial cable is then wired to the driver/transformer. The finish cap is then screwed into the anchor - leaving you with a minimal, flush exit point for the coax to emerge from. Unless otherwise specified, one transformer is sent for every 5 grouping of pendants. The LED version is only dimmable with quantities of 3 or more fixtures on the same driver, requires a ELV compatible dimmer.
