The plywood molding technique perfected by Charles and Ray Eames led to the development of a number of iconic designs for Herman Miller - in addition to laying the foundation for a major movement in modern furniture design. Yet in their lifetimes, the Eameses were unable to execute their single-shell chair design in molded wood. Decades later, thanks to a proprietary process of 3-D veneer manufacturing technology, the complex curves of Eames Molded Wood Shell chairs were finally realized. The refined, enduring molded wood shell form is available as Eames Molded Wood Stools.
With a grand sense of adventure, Charles and Ray Eames turned their curiosity and boundless enthusiasm into creations that established them as a truly great husband-and-wife design team. Their unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Playful and functional. Sleek, sophisticated, and beautifully simple. That was and is the "Eames look."
The authentic form of the Eames stool is the result of a process that gives wood veneer the extra flexibility it needs to be molded into the complex curves of a single-from wood shell. The result brings a touch of style to any setting. Eames Molded Wood Stools are available in several veneers. The 4-leg base comes in bar- or counter-height, and offers its own choice of finish options. Black and chrome 4 leg stools have black glides while the white stool has white glides.
