In 1946, Finn Juhl designed the 46 Armchair. Subsequently, he also designed a slightly more minimalistic version without armrests for Bovirke in 1947 which is now simply known as the 46 Chair because it originates from the 46 Armchair. Both chairs represent the very best of Danish Modern furniture design.
Finn Juhl originally designed the 46 Armchair for master cabinetmaker Niels Vodder and presented the chair at the Cabinetmakers' Guild Exhibition in 1946. Finn Juhl clearly attempted to emphasize the lightness of the chair by separating the carried and the carrying elements.
When it comes to Finn Juhl, compromising is not an option. House of Finn Juhl manufactures the furniture with the same values and in the same quality as it was originally intended. Without this approach it would not be possible to achieve the unique finish and delicate details that is Finn Juhl's trademark. Materials of the highest quality are the basis for creating elegant, comfortable and durable pieces of furniture that will last for generations
Beautifully crafted from a solid wooden frame in oak or walnut, combined with a seat and backrest upholstered in textile or leather. The chair is also available with armrests.
