Franco Albini's 1958 floating pedestal desk combines glass, chrome-plated steel and painted wood into a piece of striking clarity and balance. The desk's design demonstrates Albini's commitment to rigorous craftsmanship and elegance built on a minimalist aesthetic, unencumbered by extraneous ornamentation.
As one of the first Europeans commissioned to create furniture for Knoll, Franco Albini is often considered the most important of the Italian "Neo-Rationalist" designers. His work signaled a wave of furniture design that successfully combines the new forms of Modernism with a more traditional artisanship.
Drawers available with either ebonized oak or white lacquer with an open shelf in rear for magazines or small books.
